Deb has
a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from Pacific Northwest College of Art and
has been exhibiting around the Portland area since 2001. Whenever possible
Deb also volunteers her time and art to help out her local communities. She
has volunteered as a juror for the Wilsonville Art Commission, curator for
the Brickwall Gallery, and to work on art projects with school districts in
need including Hillsboro and Yamhill. She has donated artwork to help in
fundraising for the Audubon Society, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the
Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, the Relay for Life and others. When she is not
in her studio, she is also teaching painting, drawing and print making in
her community.
For Deb it is enough simply to guide the
process in her artwork, not control it. Rather, she allows the work to grow and develop.
She
may begin to draw a tree, but she does not plan where every branch will be.
No matter how often it happens, she is surprised when everything is where it
should be in the end. As she brings materials together, the artwork
grows and matures. She enjoys using natural materials including
handmade papers, wax, organic threads, raw pigments and inks. She does not
know before she begins where it will all end. To put it in her
words...If she did, why begin? |
